AGM 2020 Cancellation
Due to the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak and related risks, the CIOPORA Annual General Meeting and the CIOPORA Academy Workshops in Marrakesh have been cancelled.
Although we are announcing the cancellations with great disappointment, we strongly believe that it is the only reasonable decision in the present situation. Above all, the safety and health of our members and colleagues are CIOPORA’s main priorities.
To help you navigate the situation, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs).
AGM 2020 Cancellation FAQs
The following Questions & Answers have been compiled to provide transparency for our members and the AGM participants moving forward. Should you have any additional questions and queries, please do not hesitate to contact the CIOPORA Office.

1. Will the AGM 2020 be rescheduled?
No, unfortunately, as the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 is changing swiftly worldwide, we are currently not in the position to reschedule the AGM 2020.
2. I have registered for the CIOPORA AGM 2020. Will I receive a refund?
Please be assured that all AGM tickets will be refunded in full, except for the small amount of approximately 3.0% that is imposed by the online payment provider and is non-refundable. There is no need to reach out to the CIOPORA Office on this issue as if you are registered you are in the system and your booking will be automatically refunded. Our current timeline is to complete all refunds by the late March-early April. If you are not sure whether you are registered or if you don’t receive a refund by mid-April, please send us an email.
3. I have registered for the CIOPORA Breeding Academy or the Marrakesh Workshop on IP for plants in the framework of the CIOPORA Academy education program. Will I receive a refund?
All purchased tickets for the CIOPORA Academy Workshops in Marrakesh have been refunded. Please allow for up to 10 days for the refund to appear on your credit card statement. However, we are committed to ensuring that the CIOPORA Academy education services are delivered as planned. The CIOPORA office is working on rescheduling the April 20 CIOPORA IP and Breeding Academy Workshops as Webinars, maintaining the announced topics and speakers. The Webinar schedule will be announced soon. Please refer to www.ciopora-academy.org, where more information.
4. How long does a refund take to appear on my credit card statement?
From the moment it is initiated, a refund may take up to ten days and depends on your credit card policies.
5. Why was 3% of my AGM ticket fee not refunded?
To allow for a quick and secure online event registration and payment, CIOPORA uses the payment system Stripe. Stripe offers a very cost-effective online payment solution charging approximately 3.0% for each transaction. These fees are unfortunately non-refundable.
6. Can I cancel my hotel reservation at the AGM venue hotel Es Saadi?
Yes, the participants of the CIOPORA AGM can cancel their reservations at the Es Saadi Hotel free of charge before March 24, 2020. Please forward all room cancellation requests to email@example.com.
7. 2020 is the election year for CIOPORA. Will the President and the Board elections take place?
The CIOPORA Office is currently working on solutions and will notify the members soon.
